What is technology doing to language?
Verbosity, verboseness: the capacity to communicate using spoken language: A dying art? One of the forbidden dark arts? The next generation shows a preference for "texting" over spoken language. Has the computer era rendered speech verboten? Neo Luddite's Koffee Korner: We now propose to critique the digital revolution for it's role in "dumming down" the language arts... After all, what has the internet given us but a platform for any crackpot to get an audience for their amateur editorializing without checking the facts (or their spelling)... Take the waterskiing chipmunk for example. (I didn't vote for him.) On the upside, computer technology has revolutionized the way artists, writers and musicians work. For some, at least, the computer has become a true brain amplifier, extending the available palette of creative possibilities in practically all artistic media. (Check out the new Color Palette of Music Selections at the FSM online production music library site.) And maybe all of the extra noise and chatter has honed the collective B.S. detector, raising the bar for what type of assertions will now be accepted as fact. (We don't need your stinking "Weapons of Mass Destruction"!). TICISM.COM aims to be a force for good, promoting only top kwality digital produkt. Better to have an electronic ocean of babbling idiots than a silent, censored populace. Please enjoy the sampling of fine new media products we have assembled below!

BONUS: Here is a sneak peak at some example output of the new ROBOCOLLAGE collage-building feature of the Cut'n'Mix Word Machine:
The objective is to take text materials from different sources combined with a database of image files and mix them up with random positioning and layering on a web page. What you get is a text and image mashup to be used in the process of brainstorming, inspiration for writing or design, or just plain fun. A new web site has been struck to act as a point of contact and collaboration for text and visual arts collage mashup called ROBOCOLLAGE.COM. |
